JOB ROLE

Broughton Software is seeking an experienced Software Engineer. The primary responsibility for this role will be to participate in the creation of new products and the enhancement of existing products within Broughton Software. Working in an agile environment, you will be passionate about continuous improvement and be dedicated to refining our agile processes using knowledge of software best practises.

An exciting opportunity is available for a Software Engineer to join the successful team at Broughton Software, located in Skipton, North Yorkshire.

You will be a hard-working, highly motivated and professional individual capable of working within a fast-paced environment. Having a strong user-oriented focus, the Software Engineer will be primarily responsible for seeing projects through the entire software development lifecycle for all Broughton Software products.

Broughton Software Limited provides innovative software solutions enabling clients to increase business efficiency. Originally born from a pharmaceutical laboratory, LabHQ LIMS is a simple and innovative Laboratory Information Management System product. LabHQ LIMS is supplied to various industries ranging from petroleum to pharmaceutical.

KEY PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in related technologies with the ability to demonstrate success developing on a variety of software systems

  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline

  • Essential knowledge of good programming practices and experience with C#

  • Experience with some or all of the following technologies: ASP.NET Core MVC, PostgreSQL, Entity Framework, Web API 2, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Git, Docker, Angular 5+, TeamCity, PowerShell, Linux Shell

  • Experience of Agile and its concepts such as code reviews and pair programming

  • Self-starter with excellent attention to detail who demonstrates initiative to follow through on tasks and improvements unsupervised but knows when to ask for support 
  • Excellent all-round IT skills and a good understanding of quality management systems

    • A professional and trustworthy individual with drive and passion to complete work within tight deadlines

    • Good communicator who is capable of fostering long-term working relationships and provide mentoring for individuals with varying degrees of skill and experience
