During an enjoyable, busy and informative CPhI show in Madrid, what did the team at Broughton Software learn?
Well, after over 50 meetings with some of the most significant players in the Pharmaceutical industry there were a number of common themes.
-
Regulatory compliance. With the FDA, MHRA and other regulatory bodies increasingly probing into the reliability of test data used in product release, adopting a culture of continuous improvement into quality systems is an area of focus for the industry. It is no longer good enough to wait for a problem to be highlighted before taking action. With LIMS being part of the potential solution we were able to offer advice on how to start work to overcome these issues.
-
The importance of an economic return. Whilst the regulatory drivers are huge, financial returns cannot be ignored. Any company considering implementing LIMS will want to see a return on their investment and this message was hammered home at CPhI. Once again, we were able to offer advice on where savings could be made based on the specific circumstances of the company.

Simplify complexity to assure global quality. A senior marketing VP once told me ‘sales depends on quality and we all rely on sales’. You could not fail to notice the importance of quality surrounding the pharmaceutical industry and the benefits of simplifying the visibility of Quality Control data across the supply chain. It was a fantastic opportunity to spend time to understand the communication challenges facing the industry and to gather their ideas on how we can help. The pharmaceutical world continues to grow and communication tools like LIMS need to keep up with the pace. We’ll do our best.
A big thank you to contacts old and new who we met. The team at Broughton Software really enjoyed the event and are already looking forward to Barcelona 2016 – wonder what the industry will look like when we get there?
